The research behind the prompts

Built on real research,
not vibes.

Every TruTalk prompt is shaped by current research on how meaningful conversation actually happens, curiosity gaps, neural synchrony, turn-taking, and psychological safety. Three principles, drawn from peer-reviewed work, guide every question we ship.

synthesized into the prompt framework
PRINCIPLE 01

The safe curiosity gap

Curiosity rises when there's a manageable gap between what we know and what we want to know. Too small is boring; too large feels aversive. TruTalk's prompts are written to land in that sweet spot, clear enough to reduce anxiety, open enough to invite exploration.

PRINCIPLE 02

Live interactional coordination

Face-to-face conversation produces measurable neural synchronization and unconscious body-movement entrainment between participants. Turn-taking is the structural rhythm that lets understanding co-emerge. TruTalk modes are designed to support smooth turn-taking, not to dominate it.

PRINCIPLE 03

Psychological safety, graded depth

Real depth has to be emergent. When people feel they have control over how vulnerable to be, they go deeper than when they're pushed. TruTalk's pacing is designed so depth emerges naturally, with visible options to stay light or go further at every step.

The deck, on the table

Hundreds of hand-written prompts.
One question at a time.

Every prompt is written by humans, tested in real rooms, and ranked by what actually started something. No AI generation. No filler.
